A painted portrait of the hero was donated to the museum



         As part of the historical and cultural expedition "Babalarizimen..." a meeting was held with the descendants of Oteybatyr with the aim of reviving the name of the hero, who left a bright mark in our history and glorifying his bravery to the youth.

         The meeting was attended by Deputy Akim of Atyrau Region D. Shamuratov, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Languages Development of Atyrau Region A. Kystaubayeva, Honorary Citizen of Atyrau Region R. Mursalieva, veteran of the cultural sphere E. Omirov, descendants of Oteybatyr M. Raisov, M. Alimov, M. Yakubov, A. Seidakhmetov, A. Alimov and historians and representatives ofintellectuals, employees of cultural institutions and the museum. Speaking at the event, Deputy Akim of the Atyrau region D.Shamuratov emphasized the importance of reviving the name of the batyr, and public figure, holder of the orders "Parasat" and "Kurmet", a native of Torgay, where the batyr himself comes from, R. Mursalieva gave a positive assessment of the work being done in the direction of reviving the name of the hero and popularizing his personality among young people.
 
         The hero's descendants, expressing gratitude to the event organizers, donated a portrait of their great ancestor to the museum fund. The author of the hero's pictorial portrait is the outstanding artist and famous sculptor Saparbek Uzakov. Oteybatyr was born in 1714 in Torgai. According to history, the Volga Kalmyks attacked the Kazakhs and captured lands up to the Oyil River, and then Oteybatyr led an army consisting of the Middle and Junior Zhuzes.Thus, OteyBatyr took part in a brutal battle in the Kyzylkogadistrict of the Junior Zhuz and died in 1749 at the age of 35.After defeating the Kalmyks, the Kazakhs of the Junior Zhuz erected a tombstone in his honor for his bravery in battle. However, over the years, its location was lost.In 2008, in the village of Kyzbel, Zhangeldinsky district, Kostanay region, the historical homeland of the hero, his descendants will erect a tombstone.The grave of Oteybatyr is located in the Karabauvillage of the Kyzylkoga district of the Atyrau region and is popularly known as “Otey’s cemetery, Otey’s grave”.
