Meeting Evening “Childhood Memories of the Great Patriotic War”



         In honor of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore hosted a meeting evening titled “Childhood Memories of the Great Patriotic War”, dedicated to honoring the memory of heroes, strengthening the connection between generations, and preserving historical memory. The event was opened by M. Kipiev, Director of the Museum, who noted that reflecting on the war years and their impact on human destinies is not only a tribute to the veterans but also an important act of spiritual continuity between generations. He emphasized that the memories of the war represent a special page of history that helps to deeply feel the pain, resilience, and hope of that time.

         Speaking on behalf of researchers studying the events of the war years, Dr. A. Akhmet, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Associate Professor at Kh. Dosmukhamedov Atyrau University, highlighted the importance of examining human stories from the wartime period. He stressed that the history of the Great Patriotic War is not only a chronicle of military operations but also a testament to the difficult life on the home front — in villages and families, where every day was a struggle for survival. The meeting gathered descendants of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, who shared memories of the heroism and daily hardships of their fathers and grandfathers during the war and the postwar years, presenting valuable historical accounts and family heirlooms. Among the participants were: At the conclusion of the evening, the personal belongings, awards, and documents of the veterans were ceremoniously donated to the museum’s collection — preserving for future generations the living memory of courage and sacrifice.
