Event “Museum Day - 2025”
On May 16, 2025, on the eve of International Museum Day - May 18, the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore held its traditional event “Museum Day”, which this year took place in a special format, offering guests inspiration and unforgettable impressions. The evening, dedicated to the priceless treasures preserved through the centuries, allowed visitors to immerse themselves in a living history atmosphere. Guests witnessed the theatrical performance “Living Museum”, where they could “converse” with historical figures, and took part in engaging excursions and quest games.For children and teenagers, a play area titled “The Nature of Our Homeland” was organized, where participants learned in an entertaining way about the local flora and fauna and gained valuable knowledge about the importance of protecting the environment.
The folk crafts exhibition and master classes became the central attraction of the evening. National and local artisans not only presented their best works but also shared the secrets of their craft. Special attention was drawn to the workshops of renowned jeweler and ethno-designer Bekdaiyr Konyr Yegenuly and weaving master Narbotanova Anargul Zhamankulkyzy, whose works were met with warm applause. The audience also enjoyed the demonstration by craftsman Makhmut Talgat Yerganatuly, who showcased the process of making clay vessels, as well as the creative project “Urshyk Party.”
During the educational quiz “Who Is It? What Is It?”, participants tested their knowledge of the culture and literature of the Atyrau region. A museum quest turned the visit into an exciting adventure as guests searched for historical artifacts, showing wit, attentiveness, and erudition.
As part of the festive evening, awards were presented to museum veterans and staff for their significant contribution to the development of museology. Letters of Appreciation from the Department of Culture and Language Development of the Atyrau Region were awarded to:
