Exhibition “Conquerors of the Earth’s Depths”



         On April 9, 2025, the museum opened a temporary exhibition titled “Conquerors of the Earth’s Depths.” The exhibition aimed to spark interest in geological science, highlight its role in the development of humanity, and emphasize the importance of studying the Earth’s natural resources. The ceremonial opening was attended by students of Safi Utebayev Atyrau University of Oil and Gas, as well as pupils and teachers from K. Satpayev Secondary School and School-Gymnasium No. 19. The exhibition featured valuable exhibits and documents from the museum’s collection illustrating the lives and contributions of prominent geologists who played a significant role in the history of Kazakhstan.

       Among them were Kanysh Satpayev, organizer and first president of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, academician, founder of the Soviet and Kazakh schools of metallogeny, and the first Kazakh academician; Nurtai Imashev, geological engineer, laureate of the Lenin Prize, Honored Geological Explorer of the Kazakh SSR, and “Excellence in the Oil Industry of the USSR” awardee; Khamza Uzbekkaliyev, an experienced geological engineer who dedicated his life to the development of Kazakhstan’s oil and gas geology; Vladimir Tokarev, a renowned scientist and geologist who made a significant contribution to the oil and gas industry of the USSR and Kazakhstan; Temirzhan Zhumagaliuly, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Honored Oil Geologist; Galym Khakimov, researcher, double recipient of the Orders of the Red Banner of Labor and the Badge of Honor, who left a remarkable legacy in oil and gas science; Mukash Balgimbayev, distinguished geologist, Honored Geological Explorer of the Kazakh SSR, and one of the founders of Kazakhstan’s oil industry; Orazbay Eskaziyev, experienced geologist and laureate of the Oil Industry of the USSR; Muftakh Diarov, prominent geologist, academician, and professor recognized in Kazakhstan and abroad for his research on the structure of mineral salt crystal lattices; Khalel Tukhfatov, geologist, Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, and “Honored Prospector of the USSR.” In addition, the exhibition presented about 60 different minerals from Kanysh Satpayev’s collection, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of minerals up close.
