Еemporary exhibition “Headwear — the Symbol of Fortune” from the collection useum.



            On October 24, 2025, the Atyrau Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum hosted a temporary exhibition titled “Headwear — the Symbol of Fortune,” organized from the museum’s collection of headwear. The purpose of the exhibition was to introduce the history and varieties of headwear, demonstrate their methods of creation and usage, and emphasize that national headwear is an important heritage reflecting the social status, aesthetic taste, and spiritual values of the people.

           About 40 exhibits from the museum’s collection were presented to the public. Among them were a replica of Fatima Khanum’s headdress “kasaba” made by member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan and crafts master A. Abdubaitova based on a 19th-century design; feathered takiya (skullcap), fox-fur hats, various types of kimeshek and kundik, the military cap of Admiral L. A. Vladimirsky, the soldier’s forage cap of veteran D. M. Kolesnikov, the theatrical headwear of People’s Artist of the Kazakh SSR Kuat Tolekov, as well as national headdresses such as tatar kalfak and skullcap, Uzbek takiya, and beaver-fur hat “kundyz borik” distinctive to different ethnic groups. Students from Secondary School No. 24 and Kh. Dospanova Secondary School, as well as second-year students and teachers from the Faculty of Arts of the Atyrau Humanitarian College named after K. Dutbayeva, took part in the exhibition presentation. After the event, participants toured the museum’s exhibition halls.
