Temporary exhibition “Tenge — the Symbol of Independence,”

On November 13, 2025, the Atyrau Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum organized a temporary exhibition titled “Tenge — the Symbol of Independence,” dedicated to the National Currency Day on November 15. The purpose of the exhibition was to introduce visitors to the history and development stages of Kazakhstan’s national currency, the tenge, as well as to demonstrate the characteristics of world currencies and the banknotes of Tsarist Russia and the Soviet era.

The exhibition showcased samples of tenge from various years of circulation preserved in the museum’s collection, currency notes from different countries, and a collection of monetary units from the Tsarist and Soviet periods. Students of the “Accountant” specialty of the O. Koshekov Atyrau Agro-Technical College, as well as 5th- and 9th-grade students of Lyceum No. 38, attended the exhibition dedicated to National Currency Day together with their teachers. Visitors became acquainted with the portraits of great figures depicted on the first issues of the tenge — Al-Farabi, Suinbay, Kurmangazy, Shokan, Abay, Khans Abilkhair and Abylai, and other historical personalities. National Currency Day once again reaffirmed that the tenge is a vivid symbol of the economic independence and sovereignty of our nation.
