II Regional Scientific and Practical Conference “ATYRAU LOCAL HISTORY READINGS”



On May 6, 2025, in anticipation of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the II Regional Scientific and Practical Conference “Atyrau Local History Readings” was held by the Akimat of Atyrau Region, the Department of Culture and Languages Development of Atyrau Region, and the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.

Held for the second time, the II Regional Scientific and Practical Conference “Atyrau Local History Readings” brought together the works of regional researchers and scholars, as well as local historians, dedicated to the nature of the Atyrau land, its history during the Great Patriotic War, geography, toponymy, archaeology, ethnography, folklore, history, monuments, and museum studies.

At the plenary session, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, writer and essayist Maksat Tazh-Murat Anesuly delivered a report titled “The Tradition of Zhyr in the Atyrau Region: Problem Statement and Prospects.” Dosymbek Katran, lecturer at the Nur-Mubarak University of Islamic Culture, presented on “Local Features: Based on Ethnographic Data of the Atyrau Region.” Retiree Kazhymurat Seilkhanovich Khairushev gave a report on “The Life Path of Seilkhan Gabdullin — a Partisan in Belgium and France during the Great Patriotic War.”

At the panel session, thematic reports were presented:
— by the Head of the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore, Mukhametkali Kuanyshkalievich Kipiev, “The History of Atyrau: In Cartographic, Photographic, and Other Archival Documents of the 17th–20th Centuries”;
— by archaeologist, Candidate of Historical Sciences, and staff member of the Atyrau Regional Museum of History and Local Lore, Marat Seitzhanovich Kasenov, “Results of Archaeological Research of the Karabau-2 Burial Mound.”

The II Regional Scientific and Practical Conference “Atyrau Local History Readings” continued with five sectional sessions:
  1. 1. Geography and Toponymy of the Region;
  2. 2. Archaeology, Ethnography, and Folklore of the Region;
  3. 3. History of the Region in the 17th–21st Centuries;
  4. 4. Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Region: Monument Studies and Museology;
  5. 5. The Atyrau Region during the Great Patriotic War.
